Why choose Rhys?

  • I was always active growing up and I first started running at the age of 16 to help with my mental health.

    I began enjoying running along Hastings seafront more and more and joined Hastings Athletics Club at the age of 18.

    I ran my first half marathon shortly afterwards in 1:36:39 and haven’t looked back since.

    My best half marathon time is now 1:09:43 and my fastest marathon time is 2:25:32.

    Outside of running I have gained a BSc and MSC in Sport and Exercise Science. I am also a qualified teacher and taught PE and Psychology at an all boys school in London for 4 years before returning to Hastings in 2022.

    Since then I have been gaining my personal training qualifications while teaching at Bexhill College in the Sports department, and now teaching Psychology part-time, while also being a volunteer coach at Hastings Athletics Club.

    Throughout my years of running I have had various coaches and experienced different coaching methods. I have a learnt a lot from them and I am very grateful for the help I received. However, my fastest times have come when I have coached myself, which I still do now.

    I want to use my expertise and experiences to help people of all abilities to improve their body physically but most importantly, mentally as well.

  • Thank you Rhys! I ran the Edinburgh Marathon in 4h 46m 56s and I smashed my target of a sub 5 hour marathon. I took 20 minutes off my Brighton marathon time!! Now you may think that is not so amazing BUT, I had never been able to run distance even as a child and only began aiming for 5k 11 years ago! Also, I am 61 in a few days!! Conditions were not ideal: it was a super wet start to the race , dry in the middle and a torrential finish, a lot of runners were walking and it was hard to get round them. Rhys developed a personal training plan for my Edinburgh Marathon, to fit in with my busy schedule and the other workouts I like to do. Rhys gave me lots of great tips for fuelling and nutrition, as a result I did not lose energy in the race nor get cramp. I am absolutely delighted with my result . 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 💙
